Here at Invisible we know that if you have a DevOps team, you’re not doing DevOps. As an Engineering Manager you’ll lead a team of Software Engineers dedicated to ensuring that the rest of the engineering organization has repeatable tooling to allow them to do DevOps correctly. You will collaborate closely with Stakeholders to ensure they have the guidance, documentation, and tooling they need. You’ll be responsible for reviewing technical solutions to problems centered around infrastructure, observability, and reliability. You’ll even get your hands dirty from time to time to ensure our systems are the best that they can be.

What You’ll Do

  • Be both highly technical and an effective people manager
  • Lead teams that deliver on multiple cross-cutting areas to ensure we have the reliability and observability we need to develop great services
  • Work with your team and cross functional partners to define and influence strategy
  • Lead and mentor a team of skilled Software Engineers while fostering a collaborative environment with Stakeholders
  • Take charge of the team's overall performance, ensuring strategic project goals are met with technical excellence
  • Manage the goals and development plans of individual team members to ensure that they’re learning and growing
  • Recruit, interview, and hire exceptional talent for the team

What We Need

  • 5+ years of software engineering work experience, including hands-on technical management building holistic web based software solution, API design, and interactions between servers and clients
  • Significant experience developing applications in team environments.
  • Able to research and synthesize new technologies (frameworks, libraries, techniques) and explain and evangelize them to more junior engineers
  • One or more of the following experiences:
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code (We use Terraform)
  • Experience administering Kubernetes
  • Experience architecting and deploying systems in a cloud environment (GCP, AWS)
  • Backend language experience, preferably Python (Flask/Django/etc.)
  • Strong understanding of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
